The Unending Struggle for True Democracy

Fellow Nigerians, particularly the good people of Ogun State, today we commemorate Democracy Day, a celebration of our nation's journey towards freedom, unity, and good governance. As we mark this day, we reflect on the state of our nation and the challenges we face.

The economic hardship many citizens endure is a pressing concern. Prices of essential goods are skyrocketing, and the cost of living continues to rise. However, amidst these challenges, we salute the resilience and determination of the Nigerian people. Your resolve to push forward despite adversity is a testament to the strength of our nation.

As we look to the future, it's crucial for citizens, especially in Ogun State, to be vigilant in choosing their leaders. We must demand accountability and good governance from our elected officials. Let's prioritize leaders who will work tirelessly to address our economic woes and improve the lives of citizens.

To achieve real democracy, we must be actively involved in the political process. We should engage in informed discussions, participate in elections, and hold our leaders accountable. By doing so, we can build a stronger, more prosperous nation for all.

Let's work together to create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

 Happy Democracy Day!

Signed:

 Honorable Wale Kuku,

Atta Barkindo, Ph.D, the Centre expressed concern over what it described as “selective attributions” and “mischaracterisation” of Bishop Kukah’s recent remarks at two major events: the 2025 World Report on Religious Freedom launched at the Vatican on 21 October, and the 46th Supreme Convention of the Knights of St. Mulumba held in Kaduna on 28 November. According to the Centre, nowhere in Bishop Kukah’s comments did he diminish the seriousness of faith-based persecution in Nigeria. Instead, it reaffirmed that the Bishop has consistently highlighted the alarming rise in targeted attacks on Christian com...
