2027: OBIDIENT MOVEMENT, ADC SEAL STRATEGIC ALLIANCE IN OGUN STATE
ABEOKUTA – In a move that signals a major realignment of political forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Ogun State chapter of the ‘Obidient Movement’ has officially entered into a strategic partnership with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The alliance was formalized on January 1, 2026, during a high-stakes, closed-door meeting held in the state capital, Abeokuta. The development comes on the heels of the official 2027 presidential declaration by the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi.
Leading the ADC delegation were the South-West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Eyiowuawi, and the Ogun State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Olufemi Soluade. The Obidient Movement was represented by its State Coordinator, Hon. Olubowale Obaloluwa, alongside other key stakeholders from the movement’s grassroots network.
Speaking shortly after the meeting, Dr. Soluade described the collaboration as a "convergence of visionaries." He noted that the ADC has always provided a platform for those who prioritize competence over political patronage.
"We are not just forming a coalition; we are building a bridge for the future of Ogun State and Nigeria," Soluade said. "The energy of the Obidient Movement, combined with the structural integrity of the ADC, creates a formidable force that cannot be ignored."
On his part, Hon. Obaloluwa emphasized that the decision to align with the ADC was born out of a shared commitment to character, capacity, and the pursuit of a "New Nigeria." He stated that the movement chose the ADC because its values resonate with the yearnings of the Nigerian youth and the vision championed by Peter Obi.
"This is a strategic marriage of structure and passion," Obaloluwa remarked. "Our focus now shifts to intensive grassroots mobilization. We are moving beyond social media to ensure that every ward in Ogun State is sensitized to the need for credible leadership."
The alliance is expected to focus on four key pillars: data-driven campaigning, aggressive voter education, youth engagement, and the protection of electoral integrity.
Political analysts in the state view this development as a significant challenge to the dominance of the major parties in Ogun. By integrating the vibrant, youth-led "Obidient" network into the established political machinery of the ADC, the coalition seeks to create a "Third Force" capable of tilting the scales in the 2027 polls.
As the political atmosphere begins to heat up across the Gateway State, all eyes are now on how this newly minted alliance will translate its influence into votes at the polling units.
