APUNREN LAND INCURSION - OGUN ASSEMBLY HOLDS EMERGENCY SITTING, NOTIFIES FEDERAL AGENCIES OF ITS RESOLUTIONS

The Ogun State House of Assembly, yesterday, held an emergency sitting over the reported incursion into community lands in Apunren, Ijebu North East Local Government.

During the sitting, lawmakers expressed deep concern over the situation, describing it as a serious threat to peace, property and the livelihood of residents. Members noted that the matter required urgent attention because of its security and humanitarian implications.

The Assembly through the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to further intervene in the matter to ensure that peace is restored and that the rights of the affected communities are protected.

In his remark, the Speaker further directed that the resolution of the House should be sent to key national security authorities, including the Honourable Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Defence Staff, the National Security Adviser (NSA), all members of the National Assembly from Ogun State and other relevant security and government agencies.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the people of Apunren and ensuring that justice, fairness, and due process are upheld in resolving the land dispute.
