Legal Luminary and Social Critic "Nigeria Ni Won Pe Bi" Issues Ultimatum to Ogun Government Over Luba-Erunwon Road "Death Trap"
LEGAL ALERT: Barrister Kayode Osiyemi (Nigeria Ni Won Pe Bi) Issues Ultimatum to Ogun Government Over Luba-Erunwon Road "Death Trap"
IJEBU-ODE – The popular legal practitioner and fierce social critic, Barrister Kayode Osiyemi, better known by his nick name "Nigeria Ni Won Pe Bi," has officially threatened to drag the Ogun State Government to court. The move follows what he describes as "criminal negligence" regarding the lack of safety measures on the newly constructed Luba-Erunwon Road.
A familiar voice to the people of Ijebu, Osiyemi is a regular guest commentator on "Ojukaye," the popular breakfast show on Super FM 96.3. Listeners have noted that he makes a passionate appeal for speed breakers at the conclusion of nearly every appearance on the programme, yet his warnings appear to have fallen on deaf ears at the State Secretariat.
Barrister Osiyemi argues that the engineering of the road is incomplete without the inclusion of speed bumps, citing a high-risk environment that puts vulnerable citizens and school children in harm's way:
• Educational Danger Zone: The road stretch plays host to a significant number of schools, making it a daily gauntlet for hundreds of students who must cross or walk along the high-speed asphalt.
• Consistent Media Advocacy: Beyond his legal practice, Osiyemi has used his platform on Super FM 96.3 to consistently signal the alarm before a tragedy occurs.
• Reckless Speeding: Since the completion of the asphalt work, the road has become a "race track" for motorists, leading to several avoidable accidents and near-misses.
"Nigeria Ni Won Pe Bi" Known for his trademark phrase, which roughly translates to "This is Nigeria" a nod to the systemic frustrations citizens face—the Barrister stated that the government’s failure to act constitutes a breach of its fundamental duty to protect lives.
"We cannot applaud a road that consumes the very people it was built to serve," Osiyemi declared. "If the Ministry of Works does not immediately begin the installation of speed breakers to protect our children and residents, we will meet in court to let the law decide if infrastructure should take precedence over human life."
The threat of litigation has sparked a wave of support across Ijebu-Ode. Residents are calling on the Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to move beyond "ribbon-cutting" and address the safety flaws inherent in the project before the "Ojukaye" appeals turn into a funeral dirge.
For Infocity News, this marks a critical turning point in local advocacy—where radio commentary is officially transforming into legal action.
