LP Ogun East Unifies, Sets to Dominate 2027 Elections

The Labour Party (LP) in Ogun East has taken a decisive step toward political resurgence, demonstrating unity, structure, and readiness to dominate future elections across the senatorial district.

The high-level stakeholders’ meeting was graced by the Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, Madam Temitayo Nike Oriola, whose presence underscored the strategic importance of Ogun East within the party’s national outlook. Widely respected for her integrity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to internal democracy, Madam Oriola delivered a powerful and inspiring address that set the tone for the gathering.

In her remarks, she strongly emphasized unity, transparency, and institutional strength, reaffirming her principled stance on non-interference in the selection of party executives. She commended the leadership and members of Ogun East for their coordination and maturity, urging other zones across the country to emulate the unity and collective purpose demonstrated in Ogun East.

Reinforcing the ideological foundation of the party, she stated:

“Labour Party is the party of workers. We are all workers, and it is only workers who can demand the best from government.”

Following her address, the meeting—convened at the instance of the Labour Party Leader in Ogun East, His Distinguished, Wale Kuku—brought together party leaders from across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in what has been described as an unprecedented show of cohesion and grassroots strength.

Each LGA was strongly represented, with a minimum of ten leaders in attendance, while some LGAs produced over twenty leaders—demonstrating renewed energy and commitment to party building.

Strong Grassroots Structure Emerging

A major highlight of the meeting was the submission of ward executive (Exco) lists across the senatorial district. Many wards presented their full 15-member executive structures, reflecting a growing level of organization and seriousness within the party.

From data gathered and discussions held, it was revealed that each ward in Ogun East currently has an average of 30 active members. Party leaders have now set an ambitious but achievable target to increase this number to 60 members per ward within the next 30 days, effectively doubling the party’s grassroots capacity.

Mobilization Strategy and Next Steps

In his address, Wale Kuku outlined a clear and actionable roadmap for strengthening the party’s grassroots presence. He announced that ward and LGA meetings will commence from April, with each LGA receiving logistical support and palliatives to energize participation and sustain momentum.

He also revealed ongoing engagements with organized labour, noting that discussions have commenced towards securing mass adoption of the Labour Party by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

Transform Ogun Coalition: Raising the Standard

Wale Kuku further spoke on the Transform Ogun Coalition (TOC)—a growing alliance of credible leaders, professionals, youth groups, and stakeholders committed to redefining governance in Ogun State.

He emphasized that the coalition is focused on producing high-quality, competent, and credible candidates across all levels, setting a new benchmark for leadership and public service.

A Renewed Force in Ogun Politics

With strong national backing, renewed unity, expanding grassroots structures, and a clear strategic direction, Labour Party Ogun East is positioning itself as a formidable force in the political landscape.

Party leaders expressed confidence that the region is now fully aligned, energized, and on track to win elections across board.

The message from the meeting was unmistakable:

Labour Party Ogun East is united, re-energized, and ready to lead.

According to the Centre, nowhere in Bishop Kukah’s comments did he diminish the seriousness of faith-based persecution in Nigeria.
