Ijebu-Ode LG Chairman Suspends Tricycle Operations Across All Garages
The Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Oluwadamilare Alebiosu, has ordered the immediate suspension of all tricycle (Maruwa) operations within garages across the local government area.
In an official statement issued from his office on Monday, October 20, 2025, Hon. Alebiosu explained that the decision followed recent reports of disorderly conduct, congestion, and breaches of public safety regulations involving tricycle operators in various garages.
He noted that the suspension was taken in the interest of public order, traffic management, and safety, adding that it will allow the government to review and restructure transport operations within Ijebu-Ode for better coordination.
“All garage chairmen, transport union leaders, and security agencies are directed to ensure strict compliance,” Hon. Alebiosu stated. He warned that any individual or group found violating the directive will face sanctions in line with existing local government laws and transport regulations.
The Chairman also disclosed that the Local Government Task Force and security agencies have been instructed to enforce the suspension immediately to maintain peace and order.
While acknowledging the temporary inconvenience the action may cause, Hon. Alebiosu emphasized that the step was necessary to restore sanity and organization in the local transport sector. He assured that further communication will be issued after a comprehensive review of the situation.
