In April 2025, Muyi Aina, executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), announced that the federal government had revamped 991 primary health centres (PHCs) across Nigeria.

He highlighted additional investments: training 120,000 health workers, improving maternal and neonatal outcomes and the launch of a PHC monitoring dashboard.
