BREAKING: Peter Obi, ADC Team Reportedly Attacked in Benin


There was tension in Benin City, Edo State, on Tuesday following reports that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were allegedly attacked by armed men.

According to the Obidient Movement’s National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the incident occurred shortly after Mr. Obi and the ADC team formally welcomed Olumide Akpata into the party. The team was said to have moved from the ADC Secretariat to the residence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun when they were reportedly trailed by armed individuals.

In a statement made available to the press, Dr. Tanko alleged that the assailants shot at the gate of the residence and damaged several vehicles within the premises. He described the incident as an apparent assassination attempt.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by security agencies in Edo State regarding the development. Details surrounding casualties or arrests remain unclear.
