Happy Independence Day to Nigeria

 Happy Independence Day to Nigeria

, as Nigeria marks 66 years of Independence, we must do more than celebrate. We must reflect.

* Are we living the life our independence promised?

* Are our families becoming more prosperous?

* Are our young people getting opportunities?

* Are our businesses growing?

* Are our children receiving the education they deserve?

* Are our communities safe?

If the answer is NO, then we must have the courage to ask why.

For too long, we have endured failed leadership—men without the capacity to govern, men without conscience, men without the enlightenment to understand a changing world, and men who have failed to put the interests of the people at the heart of governance.

*Breaking the Cycle of Bad Governance*

We cannot keep making the same mistakes.

* We cannot keep voting poor leadership, incompetent people, and political structures that fail to deliver—and then expect a different result.

* We cannot do the same thing over and over again and expect a different Ijebuland.

Great communities are not inherited. They are built.

*Our Vision for Progress*

To move forward, we must take deliberate action:

* *Educate* our children for the modern world.

* *Empower* our entrepreneurs to scale and thrive.

* *Modernise* agriculture for food security and growth.

* *Create* an economy where young people build wealth instead of endlessly searching for jobs.

* *Invest* heavily in our people.

* *Embrace* technology to drive innovation.

* *Build* safer, more secure communities.

* *Choose* unity over division.

And we must demand *ideas, vision, competence, conscience, and execution* from those who seek to lead us.

No one is coming to transform Ijebuland for us. *We must do it ourselves.*

We should seek to celebrate independence from bad leadership, poverty, bad leaders, corruption, and suffering—and 2027 must be the time we do this.

The future will not build itself. The future we dream about is entirely possible, but dreams alone do not transform communities. People do. Ideas do. Leadership does. Execution does.

This Independence Day, let us wake up:

1. Let us *participate*.

2. Let us *ask better questions*

3. Let us *demand better leadership*.

4. Let us *build the society our children deserve*.

*OGUN EAST MUST BE GREAT!*

Not tomorrow. Now.

Signed,

Wale Kuku (Dodondawa)

  Kukah Centre Denounces Misleading Reports, Reaffirms Stand on Ongoing Persecution of Christians The Kukah Centre (TKC) has issued a strongly worded statement distancing itself from media reports that falsely suggest its founder, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, denied the existence of Christian persecution or genocide in Nigeria. In a press release signed by the Executive Director, Fr. Atta Barkindo, Ph.D, the Centre expressed concern over what it described as “selective attributions” and “mischaracterisation” of Bishop Kukah’s recent remarks at two major events: the 2025 World Report on Religious Freedom launched at the Vatican on 21 October, and the 46th Supreme Convention of the Knights of St. Mulumba held in Kaduna on 28 November. According to the Centre, nowhere in Bishop Kukah’s comments did he diminish the seriousness of faith-based persecution in Nigeria. Instead, it reaffirmed that the Bishop has consistently highlighted the alarming rise in targeted attacks on Christian com...
